HOT on the heels of the revised Xpeng G6 late last year, Bermas Xpeng Sdn Bhd added the more affordable Standard Range to reach out to more customers. When the updated G6 fully electric SUV (sport utility vehicle) was introduced in October 2025, the models were the Long Range Pro RWD (rear wheel drive) and AWD (all-wheel drive) Performance and Black Edition.
With its entry to kickstart 2026, the Standard Range variant is brought back again to reassume the role of entry-level model. Priced at RM159,948 on the road without insurance, the Standard Range is some RM20,000 cheaper than the Long Range Pro.
With such an attractive price and its Standard Range status, this entry-level G6 would naturally come with a lower level of equipment. Despite that, the G6 Standard Range still looks good and well-equipped to hold strong appeal with the same aerodynamically efficient body (0.248 Cd).
The conventional leather for the seats instead of Nappa leather wouldn’t lose its shine too much while the massaging function for the front row seats that is no longer available in the Standard Range could be easily overlooked. Likewise, the digital rear-view mirror and smaller alloy wheels of 18-inch units (235/60 R18 tyres) against 20-inch for the pricier variants.
You still get a panoramic sunroof, 256-colour ambient interior lighting, two 50-watt wireless charging pads, six-way adjustable front seats with heating and ventilation functions, a 16-speaker XOpera surround sound system, to name some. The digital instrument panel remains the same 10.25-inch unit and to the centre of the dashboard is the 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen.
Similarly, it loses out a bit on electric power output with a lower capacity lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery; 68.5kWh against 80.8kWh for the premium variants. The rear electric motor output is also lower at 185kW/252PS against 218kW/296PS while the torque output remains the same at 440Nm.
As such, it is slightly slower in accelerating from 0 to 100km/h at 6.94 seconds (6.7 seconds for the G6 Long Range) and the lighter kerb weight of 2065kg (2115kg) probably played a hand here. The top speed is the same at 202km/h.
It loses more in driving range though at 480 kilometres against 525 kilometres for the Long Range Pro (WLTP – Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure). It has a quicker 11kW AC charging rate (0-100 per cent) of 7.2 hours against 9.2 while the high-speed DC charging time (10-80 per cent) is the same at a quick 12 minutes.
In safety features, the G6 Standard Range continues to come with the XPilot package of driver assistance items. This includes Park Assist, 360-degree camera, vehicle summon, front and rear collision warning, lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition, emergency braking, rear cross traffic, among the many. What’s not there against the premium models are the auto lane change, driving recorder and driver monitoring.
Its body colour options are pretty much the same with Arctic White, Midnight Black, Silver Frost, Graphite Gray and Stellar Purple. The interior colour alternatives continue to be Dark Gray and Light Gray,
What’s just as important is having the same warranty package; five year/120,000km manufacturer warranty and eight years or 160,000km battery warranty. Added to that is the five years/100,000km free maintenance package. And if you wish to install an AC home charger, the cost is RM4300 for a 7kW unit or RM5000 for a 11kW system (the price covers installation).
