Following its collaboration with Mattel and the introduction of the Hot Wheels Proton Saga, national carmaker PROTON is continuing to bring its cars closer to Malaysians of all ages through a new collaboration with Sunway Tiny Toys.
The partnership sees the introduction of 1/64 scale models of the new Proton Saga and Proton e.MAS 5, two vehicles that represent the latest chapter in PROTON’s product evolution. The collectible miniature models are part of the CeritaMalaysiaKitainitiative, held in conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year 2026 to celebrate Malaysian stories, brands and everyday experiences through uniquely local collectibles.
For generations of Malaysians, Proton cars have been part of family journeys, first drives, balik kampung trips and countless everyday memories. Through this collaboration, those stories are now being recreated in miniature form for collectors, enthusiasts, children and anyone with a fondness for Malaysian automotive culture.
The new Proton Saga and Proton e.MAS 5 scale models will be available for public purchase at the Sunway Tiny Toys outlet at Sunway Lagoon as well as selected official resellers. The company joins several familiar Malaysian names in the Cerita Malaysia Kita initiative and together, the participating brands reflect the diversity of Malaysian life, from the cars Malaysians drive to the trains they travel on and even the snacks they have grown up enjoying.
“The Proton Saga has long held a special place in the hearts of Malaysians, while the Proton e.MAS 5 represents an exciting new direction for the brand and the country’s mobility landscape,” said Dato’ Ir. Abdul Rashid Musa, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, PROTON.
“By turning these vehicles into collectible scale models, we hope to create another way for Malaysians to connect with PROTON. These are not just miniature cars; they represent the memories, ambitions and progress that have shaped our journey as a national automotive brand.”
The next chapter in the Proton product story
The choice of the two models reflects the breadth of PROTON’s current product offering. The new Proton Saga continues the legacy of Malaysia’s most recognisable nameplate while setting new sales records for PROTON’s internal combustion engine models. Its continued popularity demonstrates that the Saga remains deeply relevant to a new generation of Malaysian car buyers, combining familiar value with modern design, technology and everyday practicality.
Meanwhile, the Proton e.MAS 5 has quickly established itself as Malaysia’s 1st affordable and best-selling EV, signaling growing acceptance of electrified mobility among Malaysian consumers. Its success has helped make EV ownership more accessible while demonstrating that Malaysians are ready to embrace new technologies when they are practical, attractive and suited to local needs.
For collectors, the 1/64 scale models offer a compact way to own two important milestones in PROTON’s current story. For younger fans, they may also provide an early introduction to the cars shaping Malaysia’s automotive future.
The collaboration with Sunway Tiny Toys follows PROTON’s ongoing efforts to engage Malaysians beyond the showroom and road. Whether through full-sized vehicles, motorsport-inspired collectibles or miniature replicas, the company continues to find new ways to celebrate the connection between PROTON and the people it serves. As CeritaMalaysia Kitabrings together brands that have helped shape the country’s everyday identity, the new Proton Saga and Proton e.MAS 5 scale models offer collectors a small but meaningful reminder that Malaysian stories can come in all sizes.
