MCE Unveils RM50 Mil Automotive Electronics Manufacturing Hub in Serendah

MCE Holdings Bhd (MCE) officially launched the MCE Auto Hub, a RM50 million advanced manufacturing facility in UMW High Value Manufacturing Park, Serendah, that will strengthen the Group's design, engineering, manufacturing and research and development (R&D) capabilities.

The eight-acre MCE Auto Hub forms the first phase of MCE's long-term investment plan of up to RM200 million and will more than double the Group's production capacity, strengthening its capabilities in automotive electronics and next-generation mobility solutions.

The launch ceremony was officiated by YB Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani, Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI). Also present were Tan Sri Dato' Abdul Rahman Mamat, Chairman of MCE; Datuk Hanafi Sakri, Deputy Secretary General (Industry), MITI; Datuk Dr Aminar Rashid, Chairman of the Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii); Azrul Reza Aziz, CEO of MARii; Zuaida Abdullah, Deputy CEO (Investment Development) of the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA); Puan Julaihah Binti  Jamaludin, Yang Dipertua of Majlis Perbandaran Hulu Selangor; as well as representatives from government agencies, industry partners and the automotive ecosystem.

With over three decades in the industry, MCE has evolved into a Malaysian Tier-1 automotive electronics supplier with full Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) and Original Design Manufacturing (ODM) capabilities, supporting customers across design, development and production.

YB Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani, Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) said, “This investment marks a significant step in the continued development of Malaysia’s automotive industry and is a reflection of the confidence in both MCE Holdings and Malaysia’s future. In a highly competitive industry, it is imperative that local suppliers continue to pursue manufacturing excellence by cultivating engineering expertise, innovation and technology.” Dr. Goh Kar Chun Group Managing Director of MCE, said,

“From our first contract supplying remote alarms and central locking systems for the domestic market in 1990, MCE has continuously invested in strengthening our capabilities. Over the years, we have expanded our portfolio from traditional automotive components into more advanced automotive electronics and mechatronic solutions.”

He added, “Today, we serve customers across Malaysia, ASEAN and the United States, supplying increasingly sophisticated automotive electronics and mechatronic solutions. The MCE Auto Hub is the next step in that journey and reflects our confidence that Malaysian engineering, talent and manufacturing capabilities can compete on the world stage.”

Designed as an Industry 4.0-ready manufacturing hub, the MCE Auto Hub incorporates clean room production areas and tightly controlled manufacturing environments required for increasingly advanced automotive electronics for both internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles and electric vehicles (EVs).

With the MCE Auto Hub operational, the Group now employs a workforce of 680 employees, including 90 engineers, across its operations in Johor Bahru, Port Klang and Serendah, strengthening its ability to support a growing portfolio of programmes across both ICE and EV segments.

It also strengthens MCE’s position to support greater localisation efforts within the automotive industry, creating opportunities for Malaysian engineers, technology companies and suppliers to participate in the design, development and manufacture of advanced automotive technologies in Malaysia.

The investment is aligned with the Government's aspirations to strengthen Malaysia's advanced manufacturing capabilities and encourage greater participation in higher-value activities across the automotive ecosystem.

Dr. Goh added, "We believe the future of Malaysia's automotive industry will be built through stronger collaboration between carmakers, Tier-1 suppliers and local ecosystem players, including semiconductor and E&E companies. Working together, we can create more opportunities for Malaysian-developed technologies to be integrated into automotive applications and supply chains, while strengthening Malaysia's position as a regional hub for automotive electronics."

The MCE Auto Hub will serve as MCE's primary manufacturing and engineering hub, strengthening the Group's ability to design, develop and manufacture high-value automotive electronics and mechatronic solutions for customers across Malaysia, ASEAN and international markets.
