JustGO, Malaysia’s first Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR)-based toll payment system, has surpassed 3 million transactions under real traffic conditions, bringing the country a practical step closer to the full adoption of Multi- Lane Fast Flow (MLFF).
Available across 93 toll plazas and 966 lanes, JustGO gives registered highway users #Lane Freedom to enter and exit through any lane at participating plazas. The shift puts the vehicle’s number plate at the heart of toll payment.
“JustGO takes away a common problem we have at toll plazas, which is bottlenecks due to lane-based payment. Now, I can easily choose another lane instead of staying in that queue,” said JustGO user Victor Lee Wei Han.
JustGO uses ANPR technology to read the registered vehicle’s plate and enable payment through a linked debit or credit card. No card tapping, upfront balance reloads or in-vehicle device is needed. Registration is free, and normal toll fares apply.
Another JustGO user Amirul Hakim Roslan said: “Sometimes I forget whether I entered using my card or RFID. At the exit, I’m looking at signs, trying to remember. With JustGO, how I pay doesn’t decide which lane I take. That’s the real convenience for me.
At the recent MyASEAN Roads & Traffic Tech Expo (MyARTTE) 2026, JustGO illustrated #Lane Freedom through a display model and guided visitors through vehicle registration and payment linking. Its open payment approach currently supports debit and credit cards, with direct bank account payments and e-wallets to be introduced progressively.
The next step is to expand JustGO to more highways, building on experience gained under real traffic conditions. Making JustGO available on more highways will ensure highway users a more seamless toll payment experience across networks and strengthen interoperability as Malaysia moves towards MLFF.
Held from 30 September to 2 October at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), MyARTTE was officiated by Minister of Works YB Dato’ Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi.
In a 30-minute panel titled “From Toll Plazas to Smart Highways: Building Malaysia’s Digital Tolling Ecosystem”, JustGO discussed payment-specific queues, while another panellist examined what wider highway participation and eventual MLFF would require beyond technology alone. Key enablers include ready infrastructure, reliable digital systems and apps, prompt support when issues arise, public readiness to embrace a new payment mode, and a clear legal framework to address non-compliance.
To experience #Lane Freedom, highway users are invited to download JustGO from the Apple App Store, Google Play or Huawei AppGallery. After verifying identity, registering vehicle and linking a payment method, users can begin toll payment once their vehicle’s ANPR status shows “Active” in the app. Vehicle registration helps verify and link the vehicle to their account, with further validation by relevant authorities where necessary.
