Saluting 50 Years of Motoring Excellence

GWM TANK Capability Takes Centre Stage with Renewed Malayan Xpedition Partnership and Strong AXCR 2026 Finish

GWM Malaysia has renewed its partnership with Malayan Xpedition for 2026 through a Memorandum of Understanding signed at PARC Subang on 19 August 2026.

The partnership builds on the successful collaboration between GWM Malaysia and Malayan Xpedition, bringing together exploration, teamwork, responsible driving and respect for the environment through a multi-day overland adventure.

Building Confidence Through Real-World Experiences
GWM Malaysia’s first journey with Malayan Xpedition last year gave GWM TANK 300 and GWM TANK 500 owners the opportunity to experience their vehicles in genuine off-road conditions.

Beyond testing their vehicles’ capabilities, participants returned with greater confidence in themselves and their GWM TANK vehicles, along with new friendships and memorable experiences from the journey.

“At GWM Malaysia, we believe ownership should go beyond receiving the keys to a vehicle. We want to give our customers meaningful opportunities to experience, enjoy and build greater confidence in their vehicles,” said Roslan Abdullah, Chief Operating Officer of GWM Malaysia.

“Malayan Xpedition gives us the right platform to bring this belief to life. Instead of simply telling owners what their vehicles can do, we give them the opportunity to experience those capabilities for themselves,” he added.

Supporting the GWM TANK Community
Under the renewed collaboration, GWM Malaysia will sponsor Malayan Xpedition 2026 and support the organisers in bringing the adventure to life. GWM Malaysia will also subsidise participation fees for eligible GWM TANK 300 and GWM TANK 500 owners, enabling more members of the community to join the expedition at a special rate.

The GWM TANK 300 HEV combines genuine off-road capability with intelligent hybrid technology and everyday versatility. The GWM TANK 500 HEV takes the experience further with greater space, refinement, premium comfort and commanding performance. While the two models serve different customer needs, both reflect the same belief that drivers should not have to choose between capability, technology and comfort.

GWM TANK 300 DIESEL Completes AXCR 2026 in Thailand
The capabilities of the GWM TANK range were also put to the test in Thailand, where two GWM TANK 300 DIESEL race vehicles successfully completed the Asia Cross Country Rally 2026, one of the region’s most demanding off-road endurance events.

Covering more than 2,000 kilometres of challenging terrain and extreme driving conditions, both vehicles completed all six legs of the competition and crossed the finish line.

Car No. 114, driven by Olan Sornsirirat with navigator Somkiat Noychat, finished 12th overall and fourth in the T2A-D class. Car No. 128, driven by Thovald Thovaldsen with navigator Chapphawit Junlasantirat, finished 15th overall and sixth in the T2A-D class.

Fielded by the GWM Ek Group Racing Team in Thailand, the race vehicles were based on the production GWM TANK 300 DIESEL and modified primarily to comply with FIA safety standards and T2-class regulations.

Completing the rally provided a demanding real-world test of vehicle durability, powertrain performance and engineering reliability, further demonstrating the strength of GWM’s diesel technology under harsh and unpredictable conditions.

Capability Proven Beyond Everyday Driving
From owner expeditions in Malaysia to endurance competition in Thailand, these experiences demonstrate the strength, durability and real-world off-road capabilities that define the GWM TANK brand.

Through its continued partnership with Malayan Xpedition, GWM Malaysia remains committed to creating meaningful ownership experiences that allow customers to explore the full potential of their vehicles while building a stronger and more engaged GWM TANK community.

“The GWM TANK models are built to deliver genuine capability where it matters most. Whether through our owners taking on challenging trails in Malaysia or completing the AXCR in Thailand, these experiences demonstrate the strength, durability and engineering behind the TANK brand. We are proud to bring the GWM TANK 300 and GWM TANK 500 to Malaysia, giving local drivers the confidence and capability to take on every journey,” said Stan Li Hao, Managing Director, Commercial Operations of GWM Malaysia.
